Their are quite a number of mac applications which can be used in order to manage a To-Do list, so why would you choose to use ‘The Hit List’ instead of them? The answer is, you probably won’t! Especially not at the price THL costs ($60 dollars). However, if this program were free, it would likely be listed at the top of most people’s ‘Must Needed App’ lists.

It is very easy to use, with keyboard shortcuts clearly laid out for all of the functions. Adding a new item to the list is as simple as hitting the return key, adding tags is as simple as hitting the ‘/’ key followed by the tag, and toggling the status of the task is as simple as hitting the ’space key’. After entering the new item, a few really nice drop-down menus appear allowingg you to enter the start date, due date, and estimated duration to complete the task.

Beyond usability, the app looks fantastic (which is important!). It looks as if it was designed by Apple, with it’s clever use of fonts, colours, and setup. Small menus fade intgo he screen to allow you to enter start datges and due dates. The commentingg system for each task allows you to drag and drop files. This helps it function as an organizer, not just a To-Do list application. More on the organization end, THL allows you to organize seperate ‘lists’, setup folders, and create smart folders.

• Quick-Entry shortcut to add items on the go
• Add unlimited amount of ’sub-tasks’ to each task
• Start date, Due date, and Estimated time can be entered for each task
• Comments which can include attachments such as PDF files
• Always-on-top timer which can be started to time the task at hand
• Tabbed browsing
• iCal synchronization

The Good Easy to use To-Do list with a beatiful UI Advanced features allowing for some powerful organization alongg with your regular To-Do work Well thought out navigation ‘Card Mode’, which seems really pointless, but looks cool. iCal syncing Quick-add, cute sounds, nice graphics, tabbed browsing, easy keyboard shortcuts, searchable tags

The Bad $70 dollars! The developer has put a lot into this, but it’s still hard to pay that much for a To-Do app when many free versions are available Syncing between computers would be a fantastic feature that would justify the cost and add tons of usability for multiple mac owners No iPhone syncing, but a clear menu item insisting that they are working on this! I expect it to be done shortly, as the developer appears to be meticulous. Not many bad thigns to say. To-Do list apps have been around for a while, and hundreds are available. These days, developers get them right. Poition Factory did as well!
